Affiliate Video Marketing That Convert Prospects
How to Get Affiliate Marketing Videos That Convert Prospects Quickly
For over two decades, I’ve been a video marketer. Unfortunately, I’ve spent more time marketing other people’s products and services than I have my own.
As a retiree, I now face the same issues as my clients. For my personal use, I need to revitalize my video marketing system. After bouncing around between different strategies or techniques to meet the needs of my clients, I’m now struggling to develop my own plan of action for this year.
Video Marketing for Affiliates
This article is helping me clear the way for my plan. I reasoned that laying it out this way would make it less overwhelming.
One thing I’m certain of is that there will be a lot of work involved. Clients consistently underestimate the amount of work required after a video is published. Creating one video will not increase sales or turn a brand into a household name.
An Ocean of Videos
Every hour, thousands of videos are uploaded to the internet. In 2021, it was estimated that 500 hours of video would be published on YouTube every minute. Sure, a successful video may result in a few subscribers, but the key to winning is in the numbers.
You’ll need a strategy to compete with over 400,000 videos per day. You’ll need to know who you’re competing with for market share and have a clear idea of your market’s interests and needs. Because there are too many variables in video marketing to cover in a short article, I’m going to focus on affiliate marketing in this article.
In my experience, while the plan may appear to be similar from one business model to the next, there are some differences to consider. Here are some important steps to take to make a successful YouTube video marketing campaign for affiliate marketing:
Know Your End Result
What do you want to achieve with your video marketing campaign? Be specific, and make sure your objectives are in line with your overall marketing strategy. The late Steven Covery said, “Begin with the end in mind.” If your goal is to make $60k a year promoting products in the consumer electronics area on Amazon, run the numbers.
Determine Your Target Market
Determine who you want your videos to reach, and then tailor your content to that specific group of people. Who do you want to reach out to with your videos? In terms of demographics, interests, and behaviors, be as specific as possible.
Establish Your Budget
Video marketing does not come cheap. Don’t even think about it unless you know how much you can afford to invest each month. There’s more to this business than pumping out videos.
What is your budget for your video marketing campaign? The scope and scale of your campaign, as well as the types of video content you can create, will be influenced by your budget.
Examine Your Competitors
Examine what other affiliate marketing channels on YouTube are doing and consider how you can differentiate your content.
Create a Content Strategy
Determine the types of videos you will make (for example, product reviews, tutorials, and unboxings) and how frequently you will post them.
Make a Content Schedule
Plan out your content ahead of time and schedule when each video will be published. Make high-quality video content. Your videos should be well-produced, engaging, and consistent with the messaging of your brand. To achieve the best results, consider hiring a professional video production company.
Create a Strong Call to Action
Make it simple for your viewers to click on the affiliate links for the products you’re promoting in your video. SEO-Optimize Your Video Use keywords that people search for on YouTube in your video title, description, and tags.
Select the Best Affiliate Platforms
Where will your videos be distributed? Will you rely on social media, your website, or both? It is critical to select platforms where your target audience is likely to be found.
Which affiliate platform do you use to promote your products and services? This is critical for your bottom line. Consider which products and services will work best on a video platform if you are using video marketing.
Here are the top players for new affiliates who are using video marketing to consider:
- Amazon Associates
- eBay Partner Network
- etsy Affiliate Program
- Shopify Affiliate Program
- Clickbank
- ShopStyle
- ShareASale
- RewardStyle
- MaxBounty
Top Video Platforms Not Named YouTube
Vimeo.
Vimeo is a video-sharing website where users can upload, share, and watch videos. Its user-friendly features and simple interface make it popular among filmmakers and video bloggers. Over 8 million people watch videos on Vimeo every month, making it one of the most popular places to upload content online.
DTube.
Decentralized Tube (DTube) is a platform built on top of Steemit that is similar to YouTube. Steemit, like Reddit, is a blockchain-based social media website. So, anyone can earn tokens by posting or collecting videos and upvoting content that is good and relevant.
Facebook.
Upload short videos to this widely used platform. Facebook is a fantastic marketing platform for multimedia and images.
Instagram.
As of this writing, Meta has aligned the platform with Tik Tok in order to compete for their audience. Instagram quickly shifted their focus to their own video-creation hub, Reels.
TikTok.
This mobile application allows users to record and share short videos. These videos can range from cleverly edited comedy clips to candid moments. Over 2 billion people have participated in the short video experience.
Dailymotion
This is a video-sharing website where users can upload, share, and watch videos. It has over 1 billion monthly active subscribers and 60 million daily viewers.
Twitch
Twitch.tv is a live streaming platform that was started in 2011 as a spinoff of Justin.TV. Its main focus is on video games. It lets people stream their games, watch other people play, and talk to each other through a chat feature. It also has a wide range of content for a broader audience.
Publicize Your Videos
Once your videos go live, make sure to promote them via social media, email marketing, and other marketing channels. To drive traffic to your YouTube channel, share your videos on your website, social media channels, and other relevant platforms.
Create a user account on each of the above video platforms and post different versions of your videos on each of them. You’re putting together a video network to distribute your content.
It’s worth noting that the best video marketing channels for affiliates can differ depending on the products or services being promoted, and it’s always important to keep the target audience in mind. Another effective way to promote new videos is through email marketing.
Email Promotion
More marketers are combining email alerts with video marketing. A quick note to prospects with information on the latest video on a relevant topic can bring in new subscribers. Including a link to a video in an email or embedding a video in an email can help increase engagement and drive traffic to the video.
Paid Advertising
Using video ads on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, among others, can help increase visibility and drive traffic to the video. Pay-per-click ads promoting a video channel are also effective.
Analyze and Measure Your Performance
Track key metrics like views, click-through rate, conversion rate, and engagement to see how your videos are performing and make data-driven improvements. Make better videos for your audience by using data and comments to improve your video marketing strategy.
Analyze and optimize your work on a regular basis. Use tools like Google Analytics to track how well your videos do so you can find places to improve. Use what you've learned here to improve your video marketing strategy and get better results in the future.
The Importance of Consistency
Make sure you stick to your posting schedule and that your video production is consistent. According to recent reports, YouTube channels that post more than once a week perform much better and receive more recommended views. Post a video to YouTube three or more times per week, if possible, especially if you’re just getting started and trying to build an audience.
YouTube Shorts
YouTube Shorts allows anyone to reach a new audience by using only a smartphone and the Shorts camera in the YouTube app. YouTube’s Shorts creation tools, allow you to create short-form videos up to 60 seconds long. The objective of YTS was to compete directly with TikTok.
Now video marketers can produce quick content on the go. Be sure to include video scripts in your plan that offer short, snappy hooks and relevant information in under 60 seconds.
Don’t Be Disappointed
I must admit that my experience with affiliate marketing has not been particularly direct. As I've already said, most of what I've done has been to help others in the industry.
It's an interesting way to learn about online marketing and sales without getting bogged down by the many day-to-day problems that come with making and shipping products.
I am aware that success in this market is difficult. In spite of what YouTube and Medium "gurus" say, online marketing in general takes a lot of time, money, or both.
Conclusion
Remember to follow all of the rules and regulations when promoting an affiliate product in a video to avoid breaking any rules. Examine your affiliate program’s and media’s terms of service.
Different rules may apply to YouTube, Vimeo, and other services. Perform your due diligence. I spent some time this weekend going over my video marketing checklist. This is going to be a grand adventure. I intend to take lots of notes and post regularly.
