Congratulations, you’ve got yourself a new client. Yay! Okay, so heed my advice. Treat them well. Give them some attention. I’ve had to learn this lesson countless times. Tend to them like house plants.

When you land a new client, it’s critical to follow up in a way that helps them get started using your product or service. Keeping up with clients can be done. An effective approach depends on the situation and relationship. We’ll discuss how to follow up with new clients, when to do it, and how to avoid looking desperate in this blog post!

How Do You Follow Up With New Clients?

New clients can be followed up with many methods. The proper way of expressing gratitude is to start with a simple “thank you.” I’m guilty of not following up every time I land a new client. I would immediately get to work.

You can show your gratitude for their business by a simple hand-written thank-you card or a quick email. Tell them how excited you are to work with them, or simply thank them.

Your clients’ feedback is an excellent way to learn what they like and dislike about your product or service, and how you can improve it. Alternatively, you can send them a survey to collect information about their experience so far.

According to Emarsys, 82% of companies agree that retention is cheaper than acquisition. 75% of consumers say they favor companies that offer rewards.

Another study shows 56% of customers stay loyal to brands which “get them.” 65% of a company’s business comes from existing customers.

Working the Follow-Up Process

In the follow-up process, it is critical to help them get started. Provide them with instructions, a tutorial, or even a few helpful tips. They will get started quickly and avoid getting confused.

You can also follow up with new clients by providing a special offer. They can get a discount on their first purchase, a free trial, or some bonus content.

You can also follow up with new clients by sharing additional features. It might also be helpful to send them a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs). This can get them properly set up if new features or updates have been added since they signed up.

An excellent way to keep in touch with new clients is to send them regular tips or “hacks” that can help them. Send them a link to your website or social media page. Studies show that keeping in touch with customers extends their CLV (customer lifetime value).

Keep it Simple and Sensible

Taking the time to thank your clients on special occasions is a considerate gesture. You can send an e-card or a card if they have a birthday or an anniversary.

Asking if they need help is another efficient way to follow up with new clients. You can let them know about the different ways you can assist them. Offer to answer any questions they may have, or provide them with additional resources.

Follow up with customers based on their situation and relationship. Match your communication style to the tone of the relationship. Overly friendly gestures may seem creepy.

When Should You Follow Up with Customers?

I’ve always been negligent in remembering people’s names, dates and other human relations tasks. That’s why I have a calendar. Calendars and CRMs (customer relations managers) are a godsend to busy people who have no time to store that kind of information in their noggins.

The time to follow up with customers depends on their situation and relationship with you. However, a good time to follow up is after they’ve used your product or service. After they’ve made a purchase, or during special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.

How Do You Follow Up with Clients Without Looking Desperate?

To stay in touch with clients without coming across as desperate, offer them something extra. Provide a special offer, share additional features, send them a referral. You can share your blog posts with them.
