How To Use AI To Boost Content Production
To create more content, businesses are turning to AI-generated content to automate processes and improve personalization. Besides helping gather user-generated content, AI can also help evaluate social media posts. Artificial Intelligence systems can generate fresh topics for blogs and other marketing collateral.
AI Content Generator: The Future of Writing?
As a long time content marketing guy, I’m fascinated by AI for content creation. Full disclosure; I’m spending a lot of money (tax deductible research) trying out different AI systems, because I’m writing a book on the subject.
Since I hated typing class back in the day, it seems ironic that typing has made me so much money over the decades. The idea of using artificial intelligence for content appealed to me.
The process is so hyped up right now; I wanted to look at it from several perspectives. The current process starts with choosing the subject of your content, picking the format and various elements.
Proper Formatting Is Important for Significant Results
Content creation with AI is not magic. Analyzing millions of pieces of data and content enables the algorithm to learn. As it studies more data, it becomes more proficient at creating similarly themed content on its own.
First, you need to come up with a suitable topic for your AI content generator. A subject or theme should be provided to the system so that it can learn about what you want.
You give it guidelines and it tries to find the right words to fulfill your instructions.
Choosing a format for your content is the next step. The AI system can make blog posts, articles, product descriptions, and even social media posts.
Once you decide on a format, you will need to provide some guidance on what the piece will include. This is where you’ll shape the material yourself.
With the app, you can even create an outline to use as a framework. You can choose from a variety of titles, subheads, and keyword options.
You can also check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation using most apps. Each program will have its own features that offer slightly different ways to reach your goal.
As a writer, your working habits may have become ingrained. There will be issues with each software that will make them incompatible with your workflow. However, there are other aspects of AI that you will find essential. Most AI apps offer copywriting templates.
For example:
- E-Commerce
- Q&A
- Copywriting
- Marketing
- SEO
There may be some overlap in the way the templates are organized. If you are a specialist, the tabs make it easy to find what you need and move on. Some apps allow you to set your favorites.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning have been around for many decades. Those of us championed the idea of Spell Check when it was introduced to Microsoft Word. That was back in 2003.
By 2007, a context-sensitive, auto-correct feature was revolutionizing the desktop publishing industry. Writers could continue working on a sentence and have the machine double check spelling as they type.
The grammar checking feature allows you to go through your copy and make changes just like a real human editor! Microsoft Office’s spellcheck and grammar functions did not remove the essential role of an editor from the industries that employed them.
However, judging by some articles that I’ve read online these days, we need more editors!
I’m not sure if AI will ever replace the human element for content creation in the near term. However, I think it can help with the processes involved in content marketing.
How Does AI Help In Content Creation?
There are several ways to use AI to boost content production. Here are just a few:
Natural language generation can automate small content projects like emails.
AI can also improve personalization efforts.
Use AI to analyze social media content and get fresh topics and keywords.
Finally, chatbots can help you collect user-generated content.
Your Artificial Intelligence Research Partner
Professional writers realize they are only as good as their research. Fact-finding is something we’re passionate about. Now, even though Google is close by, it’s easier to ask your robot assistant.
The bot can help you find information about your topic while you’re structuring your outline. Having your bot answer all your questions while you gather your data is amazing.
That’s right, your AI can surf the Internet and find out what others are interested in. This program scrapes websites like Quora.com, Reddit, and of course Google to find relevant questions that need answers.
Afterwards, the AI will answer these questions as a good bot should. You may be ready to try these apps if you’re seeing some potential in them. Include AI in your arsenal after considering these ideas:
Data mining.
Keyword generation.
Automated content creation.
Rephrasing.
Citation generation.
Keyword generation.
AI Content Creation Limitations
Currently, AI content creation tools have some basic limitations. Its lack of style and character is the most glaring issue.
Several companies have tried to adapt “personality” styles to artificial intelligence. Most of what I’ve experienced so far has not been very impressive. I asked the AI to tell a dad joke. This is what I got.
“Why did dad cross the road? To get to the other side!”
Typically, the output is “dry” and logical. It reminds me of Wikipedia. Wikipedia demands that the writing style be straightforward and robotic. Here is where human writers can add their own unique touch to the text.
One of the most annoying things about AI content writers is their tendency to repeat themselves. If left to its own devices when writing a 2,000 word article, the AI would filibuster the process all the way to the end. It would no doubt read like a high school book report written the night before the deadline.
Unless you’ve got very distinct subheads to keep things on track, the AI has no issues with repeating itself. A long-form essay on pancake making would put your readers to sleep halfway through the paper.
AutoML Is The Backbone Of AI Writing Software
Many of these programs are created with AutoML software. These are machine learning modules used to create automation systems. The AutoML engine creates models with generalized Instructions for learning (IL). I will not try to understand Iterative Learning right at this moment.
It’s part of the artificial intelligence bundle. By using data from past learning experiences, the model can improve on its own. It allows Google to create AI models quickly and deploy them with minimal human interaction.
What is Google’s AutoML?
Google’s AutoML is an artificial intelligence-based platform that automates machine learning tasks. With AutoML, users can create models without having to understand complex machine learning algorithms.
Many SaaS businesses use this service. Google’s AutoML (Artificial Intelligence) API helps machines decide without human input. Are you scared yet?
Some well-known SaaS businesses that use artificial intelligence and machine learning include:
Amazon
Microsoft
IBM
Salesforce
Various News Outlets
In the meantime, we can edit the materials that have been provided. This is perfect for me, since I have a love-hate relationship with technology, anyway.
How AI is Changing the Way We Create Content
Following your decision on what type of AI content you’d like to create, you will need to collect some data. In order to do this, ask the bot related questions about your topic. After searching the internet, the bot will return relevant results.
After that, you’ll need a content plan and a structure. This includes writing a list of your main points. Artificial intelligence will also help you come up with new content ideas.
You may improve your personalization efforts by using AI. Machine learning algorithms can target specific audiences with personalized content.
Social media content can also be evaluated using AI. Artificial intelligence can help you analyze social media data to identify trends and insights.
Topics and keywords can be generated using AI. It can generate content ideas based on historical data.
AI As a Tool to Combat Misinformation
Misinformation is an ongoing problem in the media and something that must be confronted. AuCoDe is an AI-based startup that uses machine learning to detect misinformation online. The data is then turned into useful information.
The company has partnered with FACT CHAMP, a fact-checking project to address social media misinformation. It has teamed up with Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
Artificial intelligence in the news divisions of many media companies helps to improve assessment and distribution. News outlets use artificial intelligence to help them find stories and analyze data. AI can recognize patterns in weather, traffic data and voter registration records, for example.
Repurposing Existing Content With AI
If you wrote a fantastic article and wish to publish a version on your blog, you can avoid duplicate content. You can even pull up old articles you wrote years ago. AI makes it easy to update them and turn them into videos.
Your written text can be transformed into audio using computer-generated voiceover narration. I have used AI multimedia software that converted my articles into video presentations. That was one of the coolest things I found.
Besides breaking up the paragraphs into scenes, the software could pick images and video clips to match each paragraph. With that accomplished, I could choose from several voiceover styles.
The final product included a very human sounding narrator as well as dissolves and cross fades. Unfortunately, a big Internet hosting company quietly strangled the app after buying out its developers.
Going All the Way with AI
The most likely thing you expect me to say now is that this article was written by AI on my computer. Sadly, that’s not exactly how it went down. Several AI bots contributed. Currently, I am in my office using my headset to dictate most of this text.
Okay, further disclosure; I’m using Google’s voice recognition software to dictate my work in Google Docs.
My article had a rough framework, as well as several subheadings that I chose based on the AI’s recommendation. During the production, two AI systems were used. It was a simple test to compare the two bots’ output.
Using AI and Machine Learning to edit written content has been the most impressive part of this experience so far. ProWritingAid, Grammarly, and Wordtune are definitely revolutionizing the editing process for writers.
Spellcheck and grammar correction are available on all three. They also offer multiple choice alternatives to your sentences. Alternative variations can offer insight into better approaches to a line.
WordTune offers shorter or longer versions of your sentences to see if there’s better flow. It can take a clunky idea and clean it up in a snap. This makes fine tuning the first draft much easier and less time-consuming.
A Brave New World of AI is Coming
So, what’s the future of all this going to look like? We knew automated content was on the way in 2003. It’s here now and only getting more sophisticated. Using AI, content creators can automate multimedia content and eventually build unique individualized works.
That means what I read or consume might be tailored to my worldview. The computers will know me better than I know myself. They’ll supply me with material that agrees with my religious, political, and philosophical biases.
Using natural language generation technology like Google’s AutoML (Artificial Intelligence) API or IBM Watson’s Personality Insights Tool, creators will generate persuasive content that appeals to me while influencing my decisions on a level that I’m not even aware of.
Or, maybe they’ll still suck at telling dad jokes.
