I appreciate your stance on this issue Mr. Obama. Those who want to sanctify fetuses never actually address the complexity of giving birth; either from a biological perspective or societal one.
From a pro-life perspective, I would think that existing human life would be important to the people who are concerned about this issue. Pregnancy mortality rates and miscarriage numbers are two of the most troubling statistics we rarely hear about.
Maternal mortality rates.
Pregnant and postpartum women may be at an increased risk of violent death, including homicide and suicide relative to nonpregnant women, but US national data have not been reported since implementing enhanced mortality surveillance. A CDC study reported that "the overall pregnancy-associated homicide ratio was 1.7 deaths per 100,000 live births"”
Rates of miscarriages
About 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage.

10 to 15 in 100 pregnancies (10 to 15 percent) end in miscarriage. *marchofdimes.org
26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and up to 10% of clinically recognized pregnancies.

Rather than offering solutions to existing issues, cynical political opportunists look for problems to exploit. It has become a marketable subject to fund raise on, despite the fact that abortion rates have plummeted in developed countries over the past few decades.
What are the signs and placards that protest the high rate of miscarriages in this country? Is the court system doing anything about the lack of adequate health care measures for pregnant women and actual children?
It's about time for rational people to expose the pro-life grift. Their obsession is only going to lead to more women being killed. I find it a shame that we must fight to move forward against the same people who want freedom for themselves through their tyranny over others.
