Oh, I'm sure that the USA chant evokes national pride for most citizens (me included). However, like any good dog whistle, it's co-opted by specific groups to mean something else.

It's the equivalent of "Let's Go Brandon". To regular folks, it's harmless. To others, it's much more than that. It's a symbol of defiance.

As we say in the storytelling business, the true value of words is in their context.
