Welcome to the eight instalment of this training series on creating long term digital real estate. The purpose of this section of the training is to show you how to get an expired domain for your authority site.

In fact, these are going to be high authority domains with amazing metrics. The benefit of using these types of domains is that you’re going to rank faster.

And the good news is that this method works even if you’ve never purchased a domain before in your life.

Taking an Existing Domain as Your Own

Your authority site will cover a range of topics within a broad niche. We used the example of knives or blades so far. An authority site can cover a lot of ground and still rank for high-quality keywords without having the name of the niche in its domain or URL.

Think about it for a second. What is Wikipedia? How about Amazon? What does Twitter actually mean, anyway?

There are quite a lot of domains out there that have been created and used for a few decades that just sound catchy but are no longer in use. They may have a lot of back links and authority from Google but are defunct.
