Redefine Your Identity for Success When Making Life-Changing Decisions

Dennis Francis

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

I’m not a psychologist, nor do I play one on TV. My lifelong interest is in marketing and demographic research. I’m also a big fan of self-improvement processes.

I got into a discussion about media manipulation and marketing thanks to the Fox News/Dominion case. My overall take on the Murcoch owned network has been more about its masterful use of marketing and positioning than its politics.

Culture and Identity

The most powerful marketing strategy you can create is one in which you appeal to culture and identity. If you can get a group of followers to form a culture and identify with your brand, they are hooked for life.

Apple is famous for creating that kind of community ethos. The thing about identity definition and marketing is that quite often, it’s as invisible as wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, and boots to a Garth Brooks concert.

We all have our “uniforms,” and much as we hate to admit it, we find comfort in sharing a common identity with others. This is why marketing can be so effective at shaping our beliefs and behaviors.
