Chat-GPT is constantly overloaded. If you’re one of the people who have been hogging the service over the last week or so, shame on you. More and more people are learning about this amazing tool and using it for everything from making chile recipes to writing computer programs.

If you haven’t heard of ChatGPT before, it is a chatbot called “Generative Pre-trained Transformer” that was released by OpenAI in November 2022. It’s built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3 family of large language models.

Basically, it’s like having a know-it-all nerd sitting next to you in your office. You sign in with your verified account and ask or tell the AI what to do. It can even tell jokes.

Once I discovered this tool, I was hooked. But now that everyone and their cats are playing with this thing, the system is constantly overloaded. Here are a few alternatives to try if you are looking to make this AI a part of your workflow.

Other Options for AI Help

There are a few other options out there if you’re looking for alternatives to ChatGPT. Here are some of the best alternatives available:

YouChat is a component of you.com. The bot is currently in beta. It works very similarly to ChatGPT and is also powered by OpenAI. This is not the Chinese social media service with the same name.

You.com is a search engine built in Palo Alto, California, in the United States that summarizes web results using website categories, contrary to a traditional search engine, which shows a list of links.

Since YouChat uses the same source as ChatGPT, the accuracy of the information will be limited in the same way. I put the apps to the challenge of writing a limerick.

My standard test is the same: “Write a limerick about a fisherman and a mermaid.”

The response from you chat was —

“There once was a fisherman named Bob

Who had a strange encounter at the dock

He saw a mermaid one night

And was filled with delight

Now his tale is forever in lock.”
