The Heard/Depp circus was embarrassing.
We need help. We can't even admit it to ourselves much less to others.
I know that we as a society can never take the time to collectively learn lessons from these types of media events.
However, I would love to see us finally get to the point were we can accept that toxic relationships don't happen in a vacuum.
People are often broken from a very young age. We don't offer much in the way of support to those who are struggling. We often don't understand the damage that they endure or later inflict on others.
We don't understand the emotional pain that people who lash out have been going through. Or the damage that occurs when we say "tough it out" or "just get over it".
At what point do we stop making excuses for our lack of action to fix our broken society? When will we stop making excuses for our institutions that allow this to happen?
People are emotionally stunted and pass on their emotional damage to their children. Whether this is a he said/she said situation or not, it's not uncommon.
We don't even get to fix our baggage before we start dating. We don't get to fix our baggage before we get married. We don't get to fix our baggage before we have children.
Why can't we just admit that we are broken and that we need help? We can't fix anything if we continue to pretend that we're okay.
