Many years ago, my attitude toward my inner child was shaken up at a sales conference. I’d been at odds with “Junior” for over 20 years by then. The speaker for the evening was motivational speaker, Les Brown (not the famous band leader), who electrified the audience with his charm, passion, and wisdom.

Conflict Resolution

I can’t tell you exactly what he said, word for word, that night, but he echoed a famous philosopher, William James. We can’t accomplish much if we are always in conflict with our subconscious (Junior).

We live our lives mostly on autopilot. We wake up, do our business, eat, work, have fun, go to bed, and do it all over again.

Once we learn something new, we let our automatic system take over. We spend more time reacting to situations than taking action toward our goals.

Human nature. That’s understandable.

We don’t want to spend our lives consciously taking each breath or focusing on each spoonful of ice cream. To be honest, there are moments when we should.

“Fake it, till you make it.”

When we make decisions with our conscious mind, we often forget to train the part of us (Junior) that does the heavy lifting throughout…
