If you’ve ever wanted to get your product or service in front of thousands of viewers, then you’re reading the right article. That’s because you’re about to discover my top favorite methods for getting viewers hooked on my clients’ videos.

And the good news is that this method works even if you’re just starting out in video marketing for your small business. This brief article won’t cover the fundamentals of video marketing. Today, we’re just looking at how to come up with content that viewers find interesting. The secret is that it’s all about the viewer.

Read on…

Step 1: You’ll need to have done your homework ahead of time. In my previous articles, I discussed knowing your intended audience and what they are most interested in. This research is vital in several ways. Your audience must be specific enough that when you speak to them, they’ll pay attention.

Many people who’re new to video marketing don’t even realize that they need to do this step before they can engage their audience. And that’s why many people who try to use video marketing for their business end up failing — they’re missing this crucial step. So, the first thing you need to do is understand what topics will get your intended audience excited.

You’ll find that this part of the process goes much more smoothly if you apply these tips and tricks:

- Convert Your Blog Posts into Video Content.

The demand for video content is higher than ever. In fact, a recent HubSpot study found that companies who publish videos grow their Google search traffic by a whopping 196% on average. You may wonder how to create this type of content or if it’s worth the effort. Use your existing blog posts or articles that have become popular and turn them into videos.

- Ask Questions from Your Audience to Get Ideas.

Have you ever had a creative block? Have you ever needed an idea but couldn’t think of one on your own? One way to get around this is to ask your readers or customers’ questions. For example, if you are trying to come up with a new video, ask your followers things like “What do you really want to get out of a new training course?” or “What are some common misconceptions about playing tennis on clay courts?”.

Research online forums in your niche to see what others are saying and what questions are being asked. It’s important to make sure that the questions are specific enough that they will generate ideas for your projects. So what are you waiting for? Ask away!

- Create Videos Answering Niche-Related or Topical Questions.

If you found you had a few really specific questions that would work much better as visuals, take some time and break the questions down. Complex topics often work best in graphic formats, such as infographics. Once you organize the answer in a graphic format, you can turn it into an explainer video. There are freelancers who will take written concepts or infographics and create explainer videos.

- Create Short Tip Clips by Breaking Down Larger Articles.

A video is worth a thousand words. One of the most powerful ways to get your message across is by creating short, engaging video clips that offer expert advice. You can use “Tip Clips” on your website, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, or even on Facebook. Tip Clips are short but powerful videos that are usually less than three minutes long. They are often the length of a quick blog post (350 words). Tip Clips poses a question and offers an answer with clarity and precision.

- Appeal to Basic Human Instincts.

Humans gravitate to five basic needs; physiological needs, physical safety and security, love and belonging, self-esteem, self-actualization. If you can tie your ideas to one of those five in a way that is interesting without being manipulative, you should have a great audience reception. Once you’ve chosen a tactic for coming up with an idea, then you can move on to the next step…

Step 2: Go out onto the Internet and look at what is already out there that matches your concept. Conduct a search using a few related keywords. Test out a few titles using several keywords. You’ll want to see if there is any existing video content to match your idea. Then, you need to do is get your script together.

When I first started creating videos for clients, I made a lot of mistakes. That was ok, because now, I never make the same mistake twice. It’s ok to fail, as long as you learn from the experience. Video marketing will be a series of successes and failures. Some of the really great ideas will not pan out. Some of the most popular videos will surprise you. Keep coming up with ideas!

And now that I’ve helped others do it, I see many people have a tendency to make the same mistakes. So let me share with you the top three mistakes and how to avoid them:

- Avoid copying other videos just because they are popular. It’s a waste of your time.

- Don’t pin your hopes on that once in a lifetime viral video that will catapult you to fame and fortune.

- Shoot for quality content. You don’t need to put out a video every day.

Step 3: At this step, you’re likely to notice a pattern; put your audience first and do the research before you plan a video. Create videos with your target audience in mind.

I still remember the first time I was trying to get videos to rank for a pest control client. I imitated his video style and approach hoping to get lucky (he had one video that took off early in his YouTube marketing days), but I just couldn’t catch lightning in a bottle.

He finally told me he wasn’t looking for another viral video. He just wanted to continue to educate his viewers. He was busy, so he needed someone who knew how to reach an audience and inform them. That was a valuable lesson.

Video marketing ideas work best when viewers can relate to the content. They will let you know if they like it or not by the viewing stats. Develop a schedule and publish on time. Publish quality videos; “Quick Tip Clips” can work just fine until you have something substantial to tell your audience.

Now that you know how to get ideas for video marketing, there’s just one thing left for you to do: take action. So get to it, and soon you’ll have a loyal fan base willing to buy what you have to sell them! For more information on video marketing, follow me and subscribe.
