There were many great points in this post.
I just got back from the grocery store with a six-pack of mini-doughnuts. I've not been able to resist popping them in my mouth while driving home on those infrequent occasions when I do get them.
I don't eat before noon anymore and being able to just shrug off the desire to munch on them in the car wasn't much of a temptation as it might have been at another time.
Fasting and meditation has helped me in a lot of ways to curb impulses and develop self confidence as well as self control.
