This is how tech grows. Progress is never comfortable. Most of the time we go forward kicking and screaming.
It grows faster than our emotional maturity can handle. As an old guy who remembers 8-track tapes and Sony Betamax, I've seen a thing or two. People will say that this is different.
They forget about the pain of the last leap as consumers normalize the convenience of tech. We've seen game-changers like the gramophone, talking pictures, tape recorders. Napster, camera phones, Photoshop, all these "game-changers" affect industries, egos, perceptions and jobs. This is the nature of technological advancement.
I'm pretty sure that cave paintings were also controversial back in the day.
We have a right to be concerned over AI but let's not panic when clear thinking and honest assessments are what is called for.
