Authoritarianism is a binary philosophy. You are only accepted (or acceptable) when you use your mutant power for their cause. You entertain them, serve them and defend them. If not, you are the enemy.

You're an ally as long as you're useful. Think Quicksilver going against his fellow mutants while working along side humans. To be fair, his storyline has had a lot of twists and turns in the Marvel cannon.

Since they can only imagine things from their vantage point and how they view the world, authoritarians expect others to take the same actions that they do in a given situation.

The projection is real.

The great replacement theory is a perfect example of their fever dream of projection. In a world where their enemy has vast political and economic power over them, they would be treated the way they treat their enemy.
